Your Diet Could Help to Improve Your Mood

Enjoying a healthy, balanced diet can help you to feel energised and motivated. 

Eating too many sugary or fatty foods can often lower your mood and make you feel sluggish, so try to reduce your consumption of processed foods in favour of fresh, whole foods and produce. The NHS recommends that, as a maximum, you should consume 30g of added sugar per day.

It can also be beneficial to reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake and make sure you stay hydrated to help you stay happy, healthy and energised.

Implement Ways to Improve Your Sleep Pattern

Sleep is a vital component in improving your mood. If you’re tired, you may feel more irritable and less productive. Try to reduce your caffeine intake before bed; why not switch to a relaxing chamomile tea?

It’s also recommended that you switch off any devices at least one hour before bedtime, as they emit blue light which can interfere with your melatonin production (the sleep hormone). Instead, why not opt to read a book for an hour before bed to help regulate your sleep pattern effectively?

You could also use a lavender pillow spray as this can help you to unwind and feel calm, enabling you to drift off into a peaceful slumber.

Do you engage in enough activities that make you happy? If you enjoy a hobby, sport or club, try to ensure you take part regularly to help improve your mood. 

Whilst you may have chores and errands to do, it’s essential that you take time to prioritise your own wellbeing and enjoyment. 

Whether you enjoy flower arranging or would like to join a book club, try to make time to do whatever it is that makes you happy.

How to Improve Your Mood: Spend More Time in Nature

Spending time outside is beneficial for your mental health. You can breathe in the fresh air, surround yourself with nature, and get your daily dose of vitamin D. 

You could take a stroll through the park alone to clear your thoughts and increase your activity levels, or you could invite a friend and have a leisurely stroll together, catching up on each other’s news and enjoying the companionship.
